Apple Maps since new OS 26.0 is constantly refreshing. WHY??

Mac Studio M1, OS Tahoe 26, Safari OS 26

I've already tried to "Report an Issue" under Apple Map icon, but there are only 3 issues that are possible. This is not one of those 3 issues; street, place or route issue.

It's crazy and making me crazy since it won't stop refreshing once I have searched for and found the location I need. Oh okay, wait, I just now closed and reopened the Maps app and for this moment in time, it has stopped. Maybe a glitch? I had left the app open from this morning and after closing and restarting my Studio desktop it had not quit.

So does this mean it has been set up for not wanting to hold a location upon restarting the Mac Studio? Many times I am not finished doing my research by the time I need to shut it down? Isn't that a normal occurrence for all of us?

Is there a way to prevent this from happening again?

Am no expert in this area .... yet your request certainly deserves some reply.

Seems after an update, and especially a major one like iOS 26, an iPhone continues updating many things, and is quietly busy re-indexing in the background. This can go on for some hours after an update, and its good to keep the iPhone well-charged and give things time to be completely prepared for you.

What’s new in iOS 26 - Apple Support

Eg: says:

Maps. Maps learns your preferred routes to places you go often, like work or home.

Maps will notify you of conditions on your preferred route, such as traffic delays or road closures, before you head out and offer you an alternate route.

Use Visited Places to keep track of where you’ve been, so you can recall them later and share with friends or family. See Get driving directions in Maps on iPhone and View and manage Visited Places in Maps on iPhone.
