Sound Quality from Siri Voice Feedback in Workout App Really Poor

Having updated my AWU2 to Watch OS 26 I’ve since done a couple of runs and noticed when using headphones connected via Bluetooth to my Apple Watch that the sound quality of voice feedback from Siri is really poor it’s like it’s being broadcast over radio.

It’s the same quality as when my iPhone is connected to the car stereo and I’m using Directions on Radio.

Is this a bug? Is there something in settings I’ve missed?

I think I didn't explain my suggestion properly. As you say, guessing and that is not always too helpful. I am suggesting to test each stage of the audio chain by changing one thing at a time, and using easily reproduced sound sources like music or a YouTube playback which can be run several times to compare can identical source over different routes.

As I understand it, the link from your phone over your car audio is probably Bluetooth but the audio is injected into the final audio stage before output to the speakers, the other source (DAB, FM, whatever) is unimportant because it probably gets muted for things like Maps directions.

The other thing which would be useful to compare is to listen to your AirPods Pro on both the Apple Watch and same (or similar) audio from your iPhone. That will help you decide whether the problem is the incoming BT handling in the AirPods, or the outward signal from your watch.

Sorry, I should’ve highlighted that the quality of Siri on broadcast over radio is not my main problem. I understand that it plays Siri whilst the car stereo is still in DAB and not through Bluetooth so quality will take a hit

My main issue is the degradation of Siri for voice feedback when using 3rd party Bluetooth headphones in the native workout app since updating to Watch OS 26.

I’ve also discovered my AirPods Pro 2 cause media playing from the watch to play at a slower tempo and then just stop transmitting audio while media is still playing to confirm if the fault was my headphones.

Voice Feedback from the watch speaker appears to be unaffected albeit a bit slower to respond to pausing and resuming workouts when compared to previous OS releases.

To me it points to a Bluetooth issue with Watch OS26 but I’m no expert and I am just guessing.
