Slow performance and lag after iOS 26 update on iPhone

After updating my device to iOS 26, I have been experiencing significant lag across apps and system settings. The performance has dropped noticeably, making the device feel slow and unresponsive. This is affecting the overall user experience, and I would appreciate guidance on whether this is a known issue or if there are recommended steps to resolve it

Nope you are so wrong. It’s the update, as soon as I updated my phone not even a hour ago, I get extreme lag and it doesn’t even run smoothly at all.
AND I HAVE A 15 PRO MAX NOT EVEN 2 years old with extra 350 gigs left

That is exactly what you are supposed to be experiencing after an update of not even an hour ago. Not only lag, but you should be seeing increased battery drain and higher than normal heat being generated from the background indexing being done.

You will need to give it 3-5 days to complete. The exact time is not possible to know as it depends on many factors including the size of your photo library where updated algorithms on object detection are also being done. Leave your phone on a charger all night, every night.

Thank you for this comprehensive overview of all the issues. However, I have an iPhone 13 and iOS 26 brings me lots of problems in terms of software. It is impossible to take a picture or record videos, to scroll the app on the home page, sometimes the phone unlocks with face ID, but a black screen appears, and even locking is impossible. It is impossible to record the screen and show the error because, as said before, the iPhone crashes as soon as I press the button for taking pictures.

This is very frustrating, and it is not just about the cases you've shown. In this case, the software is not performing well enough and lots of bugs should be reported and managed. Before iOS 26, my device worked perfectly.

Before updating, my iPhone was running smoothly without performance issues. However, after the iOS 26 update, the device now feels unresponsive, and simple tasks take longer than usual. This is especially disappointing given that I rely on my iPhone for both personal and work-related activities.

I kindly request Apple to look into this matter and provide guidance on resolving the performance issues caused by the update. If this is a known issue, please advise whether a fix or patch will be released soon.

I have always trusted Apple for its quality and performance, and I hope this matter will be addressed at the earliest.

Thank you for your attention and support.

Same here. Just booted up the new iPhone 17 with the new iOS and it’s significantly slower than any iPhone/iOS I’ve ever had. Like everyone is saying, switching apps and navigating screens is incredibly laggy, unlocking with Face ID/passcode takes a few seconds, even scrolling up/down a page has noticeable latency, battery life for a brand new device is surprisingly bad (lasted less than 20 hours of spotty usage on a full charge). How the heck do I undo this garbage update? APPL YOU NEED A RELEASE FIX ASAP!!

Amazing! That really worked like magic ✨🙌

My iPhone 16 Pro has been SUPER lagging the past 10 days, since I updated to iOS 26. FaceID has been extremely slow at loading and registering my face every time I've picked it up, since the last update. But after using this "hack" it seems instantaneously more responsive at registering my face!

I didn't turn it "off and then on again" though, as mentioned. I turned it on, restarted the app, and then turned it off again. It seems like it has improved the speed and responsiveness for sure. Doesn't make much sense to me why that would work, but I'm happy it did 🙃🤷‍♂️🤔

I’ve experienced the lag as well. I also experienced a lot of issues with my bookmarks. I’m being forced to log in to sites I always left open. Also, they are taking h longer to load. Yesterday I was experiencing the failed to send text messages as well. I wasn’t aware that an update could take 3-5 days to settle. However, I’ve experienced these issues long after the update
