Weather complication broken in watchOS 26

Since I’ve updated to Watch OS 26, the Apple Weather complication is broken. It’s the corner one which used to display the current temperature in the middle, the minimum on the left, and the maximum on the right. Now I only ever see the current temperature three times. Neither force-closing the app nor a restart has rectified the problem.

I’ve worked out the problem. I have my watch set to UTC/GMT permanently. If I switch the time zone to automatic, the high and low temperatures in the widget display correctly. If I change it back to GMT, the temperature bug comes back.

But on the previous OS version, I could use the GMT time zone and didn’t have this problem.

Thanks, I tested both the faces you mentioned. No faults, the expected min and max temperatures displayed correctly. That makes me think there might be a problem in the incoming weather data for your location.

If you tap on the watch complication you can have full screen weather on the watch, including the ability to display other locations. The first one after tapping should be your current location, same as the complication and it uses the same source data. It might be worth playing a bit there to see if the same error in min and max occurs full screen or when you look at the current location on the paired iPhone.

Just a quick update to bump the thread so I can find it again.

The bug only shows if the paired iPhone clock is locked to UTC (GMT). It seems to show in any format (corner or circular) of the weather/temperature complication. It only appears after an unpredictable delay tending more to hours rather than minutes so probably when the temperature is updated for the displayed location. Always On or not is not relevant. Temperature format is not relevant.

I think I have it almost nailed down now with the reproducible steps needed for a full bug report.

Good work to pin that detail down. It sounds like a bug.

Hopefully we can try to confirm and reproduce to get it reported but I need a bit more detail. So far I can’t make it show wrong on my watch even when I change my watch face and try to set time zones. If I can see the bug it can get reported.

Questions…

  • Does this problem only show on the GMT face? You can test and add the same complication on other faces, like I showed with Infographic.
  • How are you setting your watch to UTC/GMT? The only way I could find is either set the system time zone manually including my iPhone, -or- tap the GMT face and set a secondary time zone. These don’t show the fault for me.
  • You have said Watch Series 9, but which model iPhone? It might be relevant.
  • If your iPhone is running your local time, what is your home time zone? (I see temperature F so guessing somewhere in North America)

The problem occurs on every watch face. It is shown incorrectly on the complication and the widgets, but when I open the Weather app on my watch, it displays correctly.

I set the time zone in Date & Time by deselecting “Set Automatically” and typing UTC under Time Zone.

The bug doesn’t necessarily occur instantly, but does when the complication or widget has refreshed. Similarly, when I revert to the automatic time zone, the bug will go away after they have refreshed.

I have an iPhone 15.

I’m in Britain, but I just have a preference for the traditional imperial units, including Fahrenheit.

I’ve tried that and it’s interesting to see that the location access was disabled; however, it hasn’t resolved this particular bug. It still reverted to showing the high and low temperatures as the current temperature. (I have also applied the latest patches.)

The problem seems to be different to yours. It isn’t that nothing is displayed in the complication, but that only the current temperature is displayed three times: i.e. it shows 49 49 49 instead of 48 49 57, as it does correctly only when the time zone is automatic.

Finally! I can see the problem after your additional comments above. It has also appeared for me in the Infograph face, corner complication. The clue was your comment that it doesn’t appear immediately, waiting time is needed.

I am also UK so that is one variable out of consideration. So far I have also confirmed the problem appears for both F and C temperatures (iPhone regional settings). And I want to see if it also impacts the circular formatted temperature complication or only the long corner version. More to follow, still need to see if it is linked to watch using Always On display - not my default but I turned it on for testing.

I’ve tried all suggestions in the thread and this still is not working. I have a series 8 watch with iOS 26.0.2 (23R362). All my existing watch faces that had weather show like this and now I only have one face left that even shows this because if you select something else it goes away. Despite it showing off, I can see the temp as I should on the watch itself. Is there an update planned to fix this? I also noticed NONE of the preset faces incorporate the weather complication.
