What is “Screen idle” on battery settings on iOS 26

in settings > battery > View all battery usage, i see “screen active” using 5h25m and “screen idle” using 7h8m.

What exactly is “screen idle”? Does that mean battery usage in the background, or is that the total time my screen has been off and inactive in the past 24hrs?
