how to continue a thread that’s been closed?

I got some good feedback on questions I asked on July 30.

I’ve been really busy, but I finally had more time to get back

on the issue.

Is there a way to continue the discussion?

It was closed, I’m guessing because I didn’t reply again.

Thanks!

Or maybe I can just message the Forum Member who gave me

the best answers, and see if he thinks I should continue the thread

with a few more comments I thnk are pertinent?

Start a new thread and reference the closed thread.

When you create the new thread, you still need to explain the issue. And you should list the things you've already tried. Don't just say "I've tried everything" or "I've tried everything I could find in the other thread." Unless you are specific, people have no way of knowing if you missed something. The more precise the information you give, the better the answers are likely to be.

I didn’t want to recreate the

whole discussion. Not

efficient. Better to build

on what was already done.

I found how to determine

the URL of my previous post,

or so it seems. And

BobTheFisherman (above)

posted how to include it

in the post’s text. Thx, Bob!

Working on finding my

previous post now by

searching for my uname in

the “Filter” function.

No luck yet, which is odd.

Except what you're doing is not efficient. You're not getting the answers you want and you're posting in this thread, too.

What is the subject of the original thread? Do you mean the thread from July? Or the recent one?

Here's the recent one:

I asked questions about security and malw… - Apple Community

To find the older thread, try going to your favorite search engine and typing in this:

site:apple.com NventiveGuy

Is this the thread:

Frequent security updates on iOS/iPadOS a… - Apple Community

Or this one?

How to scan files for malware - Apple Community

Thanks for your reply,

IdrisSeabright.

I didn’t want to recreate

the whole discussion.

Wastes my time, and doesn’t

utilize the good work others

had contributed. Better to

build on what was already

done—IMHO.

I'm not sure why you're duplicating a post to which I already replied. Seems like a waste of time, IMHO.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "Filter" function. To find recent threads, click on your avatar in the top right of every page and select "My Subscriptions". You only have two things there.

For older threads, you can either use the forum search but it tends to be wonky. Use a regular internet search engine with the search string I provided.
