How to turn off rounded corners in preview when viewing a PDF

I just upgraded to Tahoe and am not happy about how Preview by default rounds the corners of PDFs when viewing them. This is unacceptable. How do I turn this off?

PDFs are supposed to look consistent no matter how they're viewed and rounding the corners on a document is totally unneccesary and compromises the design of a PDF.

Overall, I'm not a huge fan of the UI updates in Tahoe and iOS 26. Liquid Glass is highly distracting. The rounded corners everywhere waste space. But while I can tolerate some of the new UI elements, changing how a PDF is viewed is where I draw the line.

Please for the love of God get rid of rounded corners in preview PDFs in the next Tahoe update.

Thanks!!!

This seems reassuring.
I do not see any round corners... How is that?

You're welcome. The round corners are only the frame of the Preview app. They do not change a PDF or image file. If the round corners overlap the file you can simply resize the Preview window or change the Zoom level of the file.

I'm glad I stumbled across this. Overall, I'm not a fan of how rounded the corners have become, but I certainly don't want to see this in Preview. Interestingly enough, the Pages application does not show the rounded corners, so I'm not sure why they chose to show them in Preview. I did fill out the feedback form, so hopefully it will be corrected.

I didn't yet move to Tahoe from Sequoia. I find this issue of rounded corners a bit annoying. Anyway, could anyone tell me if the picture linked below would appear fine on Preview in Tahoe or not? I mean, would I see the round dots at the end of the segment or would they be cut off, somewhat? I agree that most of the times people do not write on corners but I use some software (asymptote is called) for drawing scientific pictures to be inserted in papers or math books I write, and this is important. Yes, I could use Skim and I even have Acrobat Pro on my Mac but, still, Preview is convenient to use, if it works as expected.

Would anyone be so kind to tell me what to expect in Tahoe with a picture like the one linked here below?

Thanks

Maurizio

This is getting interesting. I created the pdf file and on Sequoia preview I do not see any rounded corners, as expected.

I DO see them, while in the post by Dialabrain (Tahoe, too...) I do NOT see them:

What's going on?

After 40+ years in printing and publishing, almost to when the Mac first came out (Mac SE for me), myself and my colleagues and clients must have a PDF to trust showing exactly what we will get when something is printed. It is nothing to do 'traditional rectangles' nor 'adapting to change'. We all use up to date operating systems on modern Macs. Your 30 years in the computer industry has absolutely no bearing on the needs of the printing and publishing industry

I just generated a PDF/X-3 document here with all of the printer marks on it. Opened in the Tahoe 26.0.1 Preview those marks are all present regardless of the radius treatment on the displayed document corners. I sure wouldn't be using Apple's Preview for prepress confirmation as that is what Adobe Acrobat and related plugins are meant to do.

Don't be over zealous to discount my years of experience. I knew what a Linotype key was when I was 3. I invested nearly a year helping a very large printing/publisher (Chicago) set up their custom software to work with Display Postscript on UNIX Desktops and associated connectivity to LinoType printers. They created the J.C. Penney catalogs (among many others) using that software environment.

I never should have upgraded to Tahoe and especially frustrating are the "Rounded Corners in Preview" when displaying a PDF.

It seems I'm not in control of my Mac anymore!

Here a redline has been crossed!

I will abandon Apple HW, SW and OS and will go Linux, not sure about the HW yet ;-)

It doesn't matter if Apple will fix this, I will migrate away anyway, and go with FOSS
