Did you drag it off —and then drag and drop a new icon from your Applications folder...(?) I would start there.

some reference may help if you still have an issue —left or right of the line?

Did you Control click on the folder(?) any insight there.

In Application folder icon same as in Dock

Delete the Google Chrome .app and download a fresh copy.
