Just upgraded to iOS 26 on my iPhone (if nothing else, Apple's software folks have way too much time on their hands) and hate the super large, see through time numbers. Is there any way to get them back to the way they were in iOS 18?

Do you mean on your lock screen, which is where the time is shown? If yes, on the lock screen press on it till you see customize and tap Customize. You'll now see the time in a box and tap the time box. At the bottom you'll see Glass or Solid. Tap Solid and the time won't be see through. Tap done at the top right hand corner and the numbers will be solid now.

Customise the wallpaper and simply shrink the time back to size.
If you object to glassy look there is a “solid” setting in the customisation options

Mine didn't have that toggle to enlarge the clock, how to fix that?

You must use the left most font, the other fonts will not expand
You have to click the first click optinion
