iPhone 12 display cut-off and text cramming with larger text setting

I’ve really loved this feature over the years and I know it won’t work perfectly for all apps—some are just downright unusable when it’s on—however, I’ve gradually started to realize that the display is cut off and text ends up overlapped across my iPhone 12’s display whether it’s on the Home Screen or in apps (including Apple’s, not just third party apps).

Home Screen app badges cut off or overlapping onto other apps (yellow circles).

Reminders app badge doesn’t fit onto the Home Screen and the Phone badge is tucked behind the Messages app. Granted, this is with the larger icon display feature selected via the Customize menu.

TROUBLESHOOTING

• I’ve read several other questions about this same issue and the answers always mention the Accessibility > Zoom setting, so I want to clarify: I do not have that setting turned on.
• I also tried using the smallest Text Size and while that does help reduce text cramming, it doesn’t seem to have any affect on the display cut-off/overlapping shown in the screenshots.
• Using smaller icons option (app titles visible) via Customize menu does seem to help prevent the display cut off/overlap on the Home Screen, but I still see issues like the one pictured in the Journal app screenshots.

I have an iPhone 12, so my assumption is that this Larger Text setting has been optimized for newer iPhone models with different screen dimensions. I just got my battery replaced and I won’t be upgrading for a while (barring any unexpected damage/loss), so I was really hoping iOS26 would patch this little display issue.

At the end of the day, it’s a small issue that doesn’t significantly affect the phone’s performance and seems to only be happening on older models. Since most of the questions I’ve seen about this are usually redirected to the Accessibility > Zoom setting, I wanted to take a shot at explaining the issue in more detail, just in case there’s a chance this IS something that can be fixed.
