Trouble changing wallpaper on main display (macbook air m2 2022 sonoma 14.6) and monitor

Out of nowhere I am having trouble with my wallpaper. Before this, I had my wallpaper for about a week and a dynamic screensaver for sleeping. The wallpaper was working on my mac even when connected to my monitor and there was no trouble until now. I had unplugged my monitor because it glitched (she's old), and when I plugged the hdmi cable back in, I had a default wallpaper. Although this hasn't happened to me before, I figured it was a quick fix and went to change the wallpaper back. It only changed on my monitor which was weird, so I changed a few display settings, and then got it to at least have the same image on my mac and my monitor. But it was still an apple landscape photo, so I tried to change that. However, it gave no indication that I had done anything, other than closing the finder tab for choosing the new wallpaper. So I tried again, and it changed for a second before reverting. Now, I have somehow gotten it settled on a different image from my downloads. But I still can't get my original wallpaper back. I would really like it back because I custom made this wallpaper.

As I write this, it is now allowing me to change my wallpaper to other images, even to screenshots of my original wallpaper. But still, the original isn't working. Is it possible that its an issue of the size of the file? The original is 5.8MB which I don't think is that big. The other one that was working is 3MB and the screenshot is 2MB.

Anyway, please help me fix this! The screenshot is such a downgrade in quality, it's so blurry!!
