Can I remotely log out of a television I have used to watch Apple TV

I recently stayed in rented cottage and logged into my Apple TV account on the television that was there. Unfortunately I forgot to logout before leaving. I have tried to remove the device on the Manage Your Devices page on the Apple website but it won't let me do that.

When I try to remove the television I get a message saying "Because Stolen Device Protection is turned on, some of your account information can’t be changed on the web. To remove a device from your account, use your Apple devices where you have signed in with your account in the Settings app."

Is there another way to force a remote logout?

I realise I could do this by resetting my Apple password but it would be a bit of a pain to have to change it on all my Apple devices.

Is there any reason that you didn’t follow the suggestion to try it through Settings, after the failed attempt through the web? You did mention having multiple Apple devices, so that shouldn’t be an issue. You can do this on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.

Check your Apple Account device list to find where you’re signed in - Apple Support

While the above wouldn’t remove the Apple Account from the smart TV, it will require signing in again for any action that warrants authentication (such as starting a subscription episode). A new guest wouldn’t be able to use that.

Alternatively, if you forgot to sign out, then you can perhaps request that a property manager signs you out from the app on that smart TV. Or maybe they have a sort-of reset procedure to do that anyway in between stays. You’re not the first, and won’t be the last.

But it is better to properly sign out and remove the account from the app yourself, before you leave.
