I can't connect my AirPods Pro 2 to Find My app

I bought these second hand from a resale platform (not privat) but I cant seem to connect them to find my. I tried reconnecting the airpods again and turning off and on the iphone again - but it didnt work. Any ideas? Or is an apple tag for the case the only option? Thanks!

If you bought something labeled "AirPod Pro 3," they are counterfeit. The AirPod Pro 3 will not be released until September 19th.

I actually got it wrong, its AirPod 2 obviously, got them gifted so i didnt pay too much attention to which model it is.. Do you have any idea on how to link it to find my?
