GarageBand cutting off long notes despite compressor and limiter turned off

I have a problem with the settings in GarageBand. When singing into the microphone, even with the compressor and limiter completely turned off, the application started cutting off long, high notes, as if I had oversaturated the signal. But that's not the case at all; all it takes is a longer note, and it cuts it off. Loud or almost whispered. I never changed or reset anything. I've tried everything desperately, and nothing works. Even the noise gate was checked. Different microphones do the same thing. I've looked everywhere, in the main Settings>Sound and also in MIDI I/O Audio Settings, and I can't see anything anywhere. It's frustrating. This doesn't happen at all in other recording applications.
