Buying a MacBook Pro with Russian keyboard in Dubai

Only the very most popular models of MacBook Pro and most other Macs are in stock, and they are typically low-end models that will appeal to many buyers and sell quickly.

All others are built-to-order in just-in-time factories, typically in the Far East, and air-shipped by the pallet-load to your country.

That entire process has typically been talking under three weeks for typical configurations, sometimes longer for unusual custom configurations. But each one is unique.

The way to see how long it will take (or if there is local stock) is to create and order for your exact Mac, and read the anticipated delivery date and cost. You can stop short of committing to purchase and still get that estimated delivery date.

I'm afraid, you will have to configure and buy your MacBook Pro in the Apple Online Store and see if there is an In-Store pickup available for this location:

Remember that you are not asking Apple here but other end users. We have no access to Apple's inventory records or shipping schedules or any binding answers.

So sorry, I was so engrossed in the technical aspects, I did not internalize the process you were proposing to make the purchase.

• Apple does not accept orders from outside the country of delivery.

• Orders must be prepaid using locally-acceptable payment methods. Check with the store to see about cash. (credit cards are checked, but not charged until delivery).

• While Apple has gotten really good at predicting delivery times, those times are not guaranteed. Standard policy in the US is that your goods will only be held for one week, unless you make other arrangements. Your one-day stopover may simply be too tight for this to work.

• Macs sold in Russia are said to be pre-loaded with government-issued spyware so that your activities can be tracked. Be sure you can get your new Mac back into the country before you spend a lot of money, and then get it impounded when re-entering the country.
