Need to access my child's iPad without passcode

I set up a child account for each of my children and one of them changed the passcode and effectively locked me out of it. Is there a way to access this iPad without the passcode that they changed it to. Since I am the parent, there should be a way for me to gain access to the device or otherwise override changes that they have made.
