Install Windows 11 24H2 on Intel MacBookPro 2020 4TB
In case others need them, here are the steps to install the latest Windows 11 (24H2) in Bootcamp.
Due to the macOS 15.6.1 update “bricking” my MacBook Pro, I had to erase my SSD and reinstall macOS, and also reinstall Windows 11 via Bootcamp.
I had previously installed 24H2 by using Rufus and going first from Windows 10 to 11 23H2 and then installing 24H2. This time Rufus just would not work, giving unhelpful errors and finally telling me that my USB sticks were read only (luckily easily fixed by reformatting).
This is a simpler method that uses no third part tools. It’s not a quick process. It should work on any Intel Mac and with the latest versions of Windows 11 24H2, but I have only tested it on mine.
Requirements
Important: When you install 24H2, initially you will not have access to the trackpad or keyboard. You must have an external wired keyboard and mouse, or a wireless keyboard and mouse that run from a dongle (not Bluetooth mice or keyboards) and have already been setup on the same dongle. Once the Bootcamp drivers are reinstalled on Windows 11, your MacBook keyboard and trackpad will again be operational.
Install Windows 10 via Bootcamp

- In the Bootcamp Assistant app, click <Continue> and browse to the folder where you have saved the Windows 10 23H2 iso file and select it.
- Follow the Bootcamp installation process. Note that it will download Windows Support files again - this is normal. Once the Windows installation is complete, the app to install the Bootcamp drivers will automatically launch.
- In Windows, run the Apple Software Update app. This will install updates 6.1.13 and 6.1.14. Restart Windows.
- Again, in Windows, run the Apple Software Update app. This will now install updates to version 6.1.17 and 6.1.19. Restart Windows.
