Printer not found anymore - add printer, reset doesn’t work

I use a Brother colour laser printer (about 3 years old) for my printing, to a very old iBook with OS Tiger and Classic, my iPhone 13 and an old iPad Mini.

All was going well until a few days ago, when I wanted to install an old HP multifunction printer I had so I could do some scanning to the iBook. The software installation didn’t seem to be successful.

Since then, I’m finding that my iBook won’t see the Brother printer. It can’t be added in the print and fax utility as nothing comes up.

I uninstalled the HP printer software, and then stupidly went ahead and also reset the printer - I did this once on a MacBook Air (2014) and it never saw the Brother printer again (the MacBook no longer works, incidentally; HD failure I think).

And now not only does the iBook not see it, but neither does the iPhone or iPad.

I connect the printer to the iBook via USB and have tried different cables and nothing changed.

Any ideas what I should do next? TIA
