How can I fix keys that are not working properly on my MacBook Pro?

i pulled my M1 MBP out of its backpack and started using it. My caps lock randomly turned on in the middle of typing. I restarted the computer and now, at login, hitting the left shift key cause something to type in the password field (I can’t see what). Hitting DEL or an arrow key does nothing. Eventually the caps lock lights up. Hitting it causes the password field to go away, the alternative user ids to appear, and an incessant clicking noise indicating something is being typed but has nowhere to go.

how can I tell what key is the problem so I can fix it?

thanks!!
