Parental controls only working on iPad not MacBook

Bought new MacBook for child and setup went smooth but the parental controls only work/update on their iPad not the MacBook

MacBook parental controls is open for the child to change and not locked like the iPad where they can’t change settings

restarting devices did not work. turning parental control on and off with each cycle turning MacBook on and off did not work

the only reports I get are from the iPad and no screen time activity is getting reported from the MacBook

please advise
