I’d like iPhone playlist to override same playlist but older version on Mac

Hi! I make changes to my iPhone playlists often. On the occasions I sync/back up my iPhone to my Mac, it replaces the iPhone playlist version with the older, not-as-current version from the Mac (playlists of the same name — just a newer version on the iPhone and the older version on the Mac). This leaves me without the changes I have made on the iPhone playlist version. How do I make my iPhone version the master, so when syncing, the same-named playlists on both devices are the iPhone version? Thank you!
