Print without a wireless connection over WiFi or Bluetooth? iOS/iPadOS doesn’t natively support direct connection to a USB Printer.

Instead, iOS/iPadOS devices use a wireless network connection to supported printers typically over WiFi - or if explicitly supported by the printer, a wired ethernet connection. For the latter, your iPad will require a compatible USB-C to Ethernet Adapter, or a compatible USB-C hub that includes an Ethernet port.
