Apple Music auto play in car

Can anyone please advise how to prevent Apple Music from automatically playing in my car? (Even when the app is closed on my phone.) I have tried every suggestion Google can offer and nothing works. It overrides other media that was playing, switches from AirPods to the radio, and just starts playing whatever it wants. I have every setting turned off on the phone and even adjusted my car audio settings and still it takes over. Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!
