Word not suggesting spelling corrections on M4 Macbook Pro

No, it did not. Screenshot from my M4 Pro MBP running current macOS (15.6.1) and the current version of Word:

As usual, you need to secondary-click (control-click, two-finger click/tap depending on System Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click) to see the suggestions.

Control-click aka secondary-click is the Mac equivalent of Windows right-click. Earlier you stated that your pointer selections in System Settings are the same on both Macs, but please check again. On the new Mac, go to System Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click tab, and make sure Secondary click is set to Click or Tap with Two Fingers.

The model of Mac will not make a difference for this sort of thing (and in any case, I'm using an M4 Mac and it works fine). Therefore, it is a settings issue.

Start with two simple steps on the new Mac.

1. In Word > Word menu > Preferences > Spelling & Grammar, confirm that the boxes for Always suggest corrections and Check spelling as you type are ticked:

2. Press and hold the control key then click (single finger) on a misspelled word.

Do you see the popup menu with spelling suggestions?

Given that we're running the same version of Word and I am not seeing the same behavior, it seems unlikely to be a universal problem with Office. PowerPoint offers suggestions for me just fine with a two-finger tap, as does Word. Perhaps you might try uninstalling MS 365 then reinstalling it?

I don't get this either.

IMPORTANT:

MS Office 2013 and MS Office 2019 are both being discontinued of bug fixes and all other support on October 14th. So, consider upgrading to 2021 or 2024, if neither is installed.

1. Go to: Word menu
2. Select: About Microsoft Word
3. View: Second line down

Maybe a question for the Word Help Community.

I'm not using Word on my Mac right now and maybe this applies to only Word on Windows but what I do in Word when a misspelling is identified is right click on the misspelled word and I am presented with possible corrections to the misspelled word.
