Missing MacBook delivery with signature requirement and no proof of location
Hi everyone—I’m kinda freaking out. I’m in college, and on Sept 2 I ordered a MacBook through Apple’s education discount (with the free accessory). Before I placed the order, Apple’s site said the shipment would require a signature. Since I live in a dorm, I had it shipped to my mom’s house (30 minutes away) so she could sign for it. I sent her the tracking info and she was home all day. At 8:10 AM, FedEx Delivery Manager texted me that “Christopher” would be delivering my package. Everything seemed fine until around 3 PM, when I got a notification that my package had been delivered. As soon as my last class ended, I drove home to pick it up—only for my mom to say nothing was ever delivered to the house. I pulled up the delivery photo through FedEx Delivery Manager. It shows the box leaning against a plain white door, but the photo is so zoomed in that you can’t see anything else—no house number, porch, or any identifying details to show where it actually was. On Apple’s website, my order also shows as delivered, even though nothing ever showed up at our house. My mom and I searched the neighborhood (I walked, she drove) and found nothing. I even knocked on a few doors, but no one had it. I called FedEx and asked if they could contact the driver, but they just repeated that the system showed delivered and didn’t connect me to him. Then I called Apple, but the rep basically saw the same thing I did: delivered, with no proof of where. She put me on hold a lot, said she’d transfer me, then finally said she opened a case with their sales team that could take 48 hours for a response. When I asked if they could track the package or reach out to FedEx directly, she said the case was the only thing they could do. To make things worse, she also said that the delivery photo I described had “disappeared” on their end and they couldn’t see it anymore. What’s stressing me most is the signature part. Apple’s site clearly said signature would be required, but FedEx dropped it off without one. This was a huge purchase for me—I saved for months and spent almost $1000. I need this MacBook for school, and now I’m scared it’s gone for good. Has anyone dealt with this before with Apple or FedEx? Did you get a replacement or refund? What should I be doing right now while I wait on Apple’s 48-hour case review? Any advice or similar experiences would really help.
