iMac screen with horizontal lines: Hardware issue and high repair cost

Hi… My iMac screen today got horizontal lines.

I saw that it has a hardware problems this types…

I was at Apple and they told me that it will cost 500€. I dont want to pay for an Apple hardware problem, that is not my fault that iMacs have this problem.

Help Please

It showed up in moring when i started it up and there was like 4 lines at the bottom then i turned it off and after 3h i started it and it was in the middle like 10 lines.

Very dissapointed.

Last iMac i got was the 2015 and when i was selling it in 2022 it was in perfect status and after 3y this happend???

If your Mac is out of warranty and you don't have Apple Care+, you either pay to get it repaired, pay to get a new one or do without.

One other option is to use an external monitor.

Also, we are all end users just like you meaning we cannot assist you. This has been an issue for some users, however Apple has not initiated a repair program which lead me to believe it is not a wide scale issue.

It is always a good idea to get and renew AppleCare on Apple products, if you selected to not buy AppleCare then your decision was to self insure meaning you are responsible for any repair costs. In general Apple products are VERY high quality and last a very long time however from time to time there are devices that need repairs and unfortunately this was your time for that to happen. Sorry for your troubles, please consider using an external display or simply paying for the repair and moving forward.
