MacBook Air not connecting to Wi-Fi properly after opening lid

Hi, I’m having an issue with my MacBook Air Wi-Fi. When I open the lid, it shows that it’s connected to my usual Wi-Fi network, but the internet doesn’t actually work. If I restart the MacBook, it immediately connects to the Wi-Fi and everything works fine.

This usually happens for example when I use the laptop at school, close the lid, and then open it again at home. It automatically connects to my home Wi-Fi, but nothing loads until I restart the computer.

I’ve already updated my MacBook to the latest software version, so it shouldn’t be related to outdated macOS.

Does anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it?

MacBook Air, macOS 15.6

WiFi connection issues can be difficult to troubleshoot remotely, but one solution that often works is to create a new Network Location. System Settings > Network, click the '3-dots' button at the bottom right then Locations > Edit Locations. Click the (+) button, name it (anything you like, e.g., 'Home', 'Test', you can rename/delete it later). With the new location selected, see if the issue persists.
