Whether watching a movie or baseball on MLB through the Apple TV, I loose the picture. Just goes to a black screen. It may last 1 minute or 30 minutes. Then the picture comes back on for a short period of time before doing it again. No other problems with anything on the TV itself.

Apple phone technician solved my problem. Even though I have it to automatically update my Apple TV s/w, it hadn't for quite a while. When trying to download it was having trouble. Tech recommended restarting the network and after that the update installed and everything is working great.

It has nothing to do with live sports. I was trying to watch a movie I recently purchased and had this same experience. It has something to do with the newest OS and servers, likely regarding security features.
I had a similar issue on 9/19. It would load, play for 10 seconds, freeze, crash the app and then crash the Roku. Apple is in over its head with live sports. Such a horrible user experience. Reminiscent of Siri.
