Varying Siri response to the same command.

Every morning, I give Siri the

same command:

“Siri, start a 90 second timer”

I get one of these responses, in descending order of frequency:

-No voice feedback, the countdown clock just starts

-Siri says “One minute and 30 seconds, starting now” and the countdown begins

-Siri says “90 seconds, starting now” and the countdown begins.

Why the varying responses? Not really a problem, just curious. This has happened on a

couple of different iPhones and iOS versions, and even with my watch.

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

As for your first two responses, if you have Siri responses set to Automatic, it will automatically determine when to speak and when not to and only display on-screen captions. I've noticed it will do this when I am actively looking at the screen compared to saying the command from elsewhere, or in loud environments.

As for your observation on the different responses, that is very interesting. When I asked my iPhone and Apple Watch, they both responded with 1:30. But my iPad responded with 0:90. You are welcome to let Apple know through this feedback link: Feedback - iPad - Apple
