No success with parental controls

On her daily screen time report it shows she has been on for 1 minute.

so the record stops counting at the limit, but the iPad continues to play.

It hasn’t always done this, but I have had plenty of other issues to where I usually just “turn it off” when her time is up. There is a problem with that, too. With no master off switch I have to set the downtime to the current time to turn it off. Why her screen time was set for 1 minute was because the day before I tried to stop her session with the App Limits. It didn’t work. I have been trying to use this for roughly 4 years.

Ps. There isn’t even a topic category for parental controls when posting to this community.

There are usually ways to bypass a parental control and if a child is determined to disobey your clear instructions, they will be able to find a way. For example, you can prevent an app from being used on your child's device, but a friend can call them and share their screen so the child can play on their device. You can also prevent a child from visiting a website, but there are other websites that act as portals, so they can view it from that website instead.

When it comes to a child not following the rules you have put in place, sometimes the best method is simply take the device away until they can earn your trust.

Rant: Parental controls are not intuitive or functional. I urge Apple designers to stop being vague and implicit when it comes to the safety of our children. On/off buttons, effective information links, more input from actual busy parents. Sheesh!

Why is it Apple's job to parent your kids?

They provide the tools/app although it may not work to perfection, it is still your reasonability for your child.

Take the device the away, turn off wifi etc...;
