If you have AppleCare coverage, it *may* be covered. All you can do is ask.

Based on your picture, it looks like you may have a hard time explaining why it isn't "excessive physical damage (e.g., products that have been crushed, bent or submerged in liquid), caused by reckless, abusive, wilful or intentional conduct, or any use of the Covered Equipment in a manner not normal or intended by Apple." (Paragraph 4.1 (d))

It was covered for only 299 since i had apple care. Very thankful

Be prepared for that cost to increase by $99US since you reported the Display Assembly is also damaged.

The $299US cost only covers the components within the "base" of the laptop (Top Case/Keyboard/Palmrest Assembly, Battery, Logic Board, other internal boards/cables, speakers, etc.).

This is from personal experience. Unfortunately Apple's AC+ documentation is not clear on this, but it can be inferred if you are aware of it when reading the documentation (at least the older versions of that documentation).

So even if the internals are fine and just needs a screen and metal case replacement it is toast? Its a 2021 macbook pro 16 inch with an m1 pro or something. Will buy 2 covers next time lol

That is a big "if"... which from my estimation is hard to believe from a distance.

screen assembly, upper case (keyboard/trackpad/battery), lower case, logic board = a new Mac

report back what you find out from Apple. And good luck i hope the best for you!

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"

You do not say what exact Mac is it...

I suspect it not worth the a repair for a catastrophic failure like you presently have.

Maybe you need 2 case covers next time :)
