The option to select a folder as the source is now hidden away.

Once you have selected the "Photos" screensaver in "Others", click "Options", and at the bottom of the Options you will find an option to specify the Source of the photos. Here you can select a folder with image files.

It is better to export the screensaver photos to folders and not to use an album in Photos, because of the bug, that Photos will use the originals in the screensaver and not the edited versions.

Hi Mulberry58

Thanks and I follow what you suggested.

In the past I could take a file on the desktop full of photos and make a screensaver from them.

A very simple thing to do.

I already have several different screen saver files (folders) of photos.

I would like to use those files. Making new ones would be a fair amount of work.

In the current OS is there any way I can use those files (folders) of those photos now?

Or has Apple done away with that method of making screen savers?

Thanks again ...

Herb

When I see a dark cloud rising I am looking for a silver lining.😄

But it should definitely be easier to use our own photos, artwork, and music in the user interface on our Macs and mobile devices, just in the way we have edited and cropped them. It is taking the fun out of taking photos and making music, when we are limited to the suggestions presented by Apple's AI. Apple is investing so much work in making our devices smarter, that it is getting harder and harder to use our own creativity and artistic taste.

She showed you in an earlier post, which now should be at the top of this thread. Go to System Settinsg and search for Screensaver, then go to the bottom and choose Photos, as she showed earlier. Then jump back up to the top to Photos>Options where you can, finally, pick Choose Folder.

Then you can navigate through your folders.

I think that the bug that léonie mentioned about choices from the Photos Library only using the Originals rather than the edited versions has been fixed. I'm now using a Photos album rather than a Finder folder for screensaver images.
