Problems with Mail app after latest Sequoia update

Following the latest MacOS update I was not receiving mail in the Mail app on my Mac, although I did receive it on my other Apple devices. After about 45 minutes with tech support it was fixed by deactivating and reactivating my iCloud and Gmail accounts on the Mac.

However, there is other behavior in the Mail app on the Mac which I find both puzzling and annoying: the structure of the mailboxes sidebar has changed. Where under All Inbooxes I used to have Gmail, iCloud, and Cox, I now have “inbox”, iCloud, and Cox. Also under All Drafts I have a complete replication of all my Google mailboxes! How did that get there and how do I fix it?

The screenshots attached show what the sidebar looks like. I had to make 2 screen captures because the whole thing wouldn’t fit on my screen.

The top section is your Favorite mailboxes as seen in the header, you just need to make your Google mailbox a Favorite again and it will also appear up there. There are a couple of ways you can do that here:

Use favorite mailboxes in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

For the Google account showing all folders in your Drafts section, check the setting at Mail > Settings > Accounts > [select Google account] > Mailbox Behaviors > Drafts Mailbox. Mine shows "Gmail/Drafts".
