I am using MacOS Sequoia, the most recent versions, and only use iCloud as a source of contacts. However, the contacts app does not allow me to use it properly. If I add some new contact or delete/ modify, I have to wait up to 1-2 minutes until it unfreeze and work properly. How to fix this? Thank you!

If the issue is not resolved with the reboot..
Sign out of your AppleID / iCloud and back in again to sort sync issues:
Sign in to or out of your Apple Account on Mac - Apple Support
Try and restart your Mac to see if the issues persist
