Unable to access TestFlight app due to missing redeem code

When TestFlight is orignally downloaded, I am unable to enter the app as I am told I had a redeem code sent to my email. I never got this code and I can not use the app. What is going on?

You need to reach out to the developer of the app in question. They are the ones that generate access codes for TestFlight.

TestFlight is typically used by developers testing their app on devices prior to full approval in the App Store. The TestFlight app gives them a way of installing their app (by way of generating an install code) which, by definition, isn't available in the App Store.

While Apple provide the TestFlight framework for installing apps, it's up to the developer to issue TestFlight install codes.

As it says on the screen: "Before you can start testing, a developer has to invite you to test one of their TestFlight apps". If a developer has not invited you to test an app, there is nothing for you to do. Some developers will issue codes to a select group of people for testing and some won't. You are not able to test an app without the developer asking you to do it with the invitation code that would be sent to you. Contact a developer and ask them if you can be a tester.
