My new MacAir slowed down dramatically. I changed my passwords, thinking I was hacked. I restarted it and everything is OK. I have never had this problem before. What's going on?

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?
I didn't know that and don't know what they are. Does Apple have an article on this?
