Garmin 760i GPS not recognised by MacBook Pro running macOS Sequoia

I want to use my Garmin 760i GPS with my MacBook Pro (M4) running Sequoia 15.6 but the Mac doesn't recognise it - not a new problem, I know. The relevant app is Garmin Express, but the Mac doe not list it under Privacy & Security / Files & Folders, which is where I should be able to give it permission to read the 760i as a mounted volume (or so I hope).

Anyone know what I can do about this? Or is this yet another way Apple is making life miserable for those who make the mistake of using their products?
