Unlocking Schlage Encode door with Apple HomePod mini

I have a Schlage Encode lock, aaaaaaan iphone, and an Apple Homepod mini. If I tap the lock or ask Siri to open the door, she says youll need to unlock your iphone. How to get around this? I thought linking the lock to Apple home kit and having thre homepod would eliminate this. Schlage has been no help, providing me with clearly inaccurate documentation.
