External drive continues to eject and reconnect after updating to OS 15.6.1

My Seagate external drive continues to eject and reconnect after updating to OS 15.6.1.

I've run disk utility. rebooted my iMac, manually ejected and connected the drive. Nothing's worked.

I hope Apple is working on a fix. I need the files on that drive for my job!

This sounds like a problem with the drive, more than anything Apple can/will fix.

What kind of drive is it? A HDD? SSD?

Is the drive a bare drive that you installed in an external case? or is it a self-contained Seagate drive?

How is it connected to your Mac? what kind of connection? direct? or via a hub or other device?

If it's a USB drove, is the enclosure USB-powered (it gets its power from your computer) or is it self-powered (it has its own power supply). I ask because, without more details, some USB-powered drives pull more power than is provided by the host, especially if you're connecting via a USB hub. This can cause the drive to spin down, and has the effect you describe.

In that instance, the typical solution is to get a powered USB hub that provides sufficient power to the device. You should be able to see the device in System Information.app and it may tell you the power requirements there.

That's just a stab in the dark, though. More information may help triage and diagnose the problem.
