I've had my MacBook Air for 10 years and been wanting to purchase a new one but been waiting to see if Apple was ever going to build one with a 10 key. Is there a chance in the near future when this would happen or is this not in Apple's future plans?

Do you perhaps mean a Number pad?
Impossible to answer since Apple does. not reveal plans ahead of time. But its highly unlikely
You can get an external keyboard with a number pad and use it with any Mac. or a stand alone number pad though.
MacBooks have limited space and adding the number pad, even on the largest 16" inch MacBook Pro, would require tightening up the keyboard spacing to an uncomfortable level or making an even larger device to accommodate a correctly spaced out keyboard.

There are also numerous wireless 10 key pads that can be used with any Mac for those that have the need for it, and does not require a completely different device for that form factor.
