Anyway to stop iPhone from charging while using CarPlay (Sony AX5500)?

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a Sony AX5500 in my car and I plug my iPhone 14 into it every day for Apple CarPlay. The issue is that the stereo charges my phone the whole time, so it basically sits at 100% whenever I’m driving. Since the iPhone 14 doesn’t have the new battery charge limit feature (that only came with the 15), I’m a bit worried about long-term battery health.

I also suspect the car’s power output isn’t super clean or ideal for iPhones (not 100% sure though). I tried switching to wireless CarPlay, but then my phone overheats pretty badly, which honestly feels worse.

So I’m wondering:

Is there any way to keep data for CarPlay working but stop charging over USB?

Are there cables/adapters that do this reliably?

Or any other tricks people are using to avoid battery wear/overheating with CarPlay?

TL;DR: I want CarPlay data without charging. iPhone 14 + Sony AX5500, worried about constant 100% charging and overheating with wireless CarPlay.
