CarPlay no longer make calls or sends texts 😳

I've been using CarPlay happily for ages, but since very recently I am no longer able to tell Siri to make a phone call or send a text.

The voice says words to the effect "I can see no app for that, download one when not in car".

Indeed, no iPhone or Message Apps are present on the screen, but I don't know if they ever were, I never needed to check.

I can still receive phone calls, add Reminders, play Music, and ask for directions from Maps. I can also see those apps.

One thing that has changed is the addition of the alarm, or bell symbol, see image.

ChatGTP thought the issue could be Focus, but I didn't have a Focus set for Driving. So I created one and set it to 'off' but still no calls or messages are possible.

iOS is the latest version, and I've not made changes to any settings which could explain why the issue started.
