Sounds like a false positive. Rooting is a mobile device thing more specifically Android devices, though iOS devices can be rooted, but then it's referred to as Jailbreaking. It has no real meaning on a computer, so it's likely a misrepresentation of the issue by the App.
Contact Standard Life and ask them why it's producing that error on the Mac and what can be done about it.
What did Standard Life support have to say when you contacted them…?

I agree with you that the App misrepresented the issue since I can launch successfully the App from the link rather than by clicking on the App icon.
Online support asked my to reset the cache and clear cookies, but did not work unfortunately... thought it much but still gave it a try ...
Need now to contact their Servicing team on the phone.
