While logging in to Community, Macbook powers down.

When I logged into Community with my original account, was asked for a fingerprint. So I hold down top Right button to scan (which never works), and in a few seconds Macbook powers down. This happened 3 times. So I opened this new account, but I still need to login to the original account. Thoughts?

On Macs with Touch ID, the power button and the Touch ID sensor are the same physical 'button'. You rest your finger lightly on the button for fingerprint detection, you press and hold the button to hard shutdown the Mac. Sounds like you're pressing instead of resting your finger on the button.

And it never will if you hold down the power button, this button has multiple functions, depending...

if you want touchID— then just touch it
