Apply Clip into FCP Drop Zone

FCP 11.11.1 on MacBook Air. I have been using FCP for a couple of years and familiar with most basic procedures. Suddenly I can't place any clips or pics in any Project Drop Zones. I don'r know of any changes that I have made to FCP settings. This difficulty seems to have just appeared for no reason (Of course there is! LOL) Basically, I select a Drop Zone in a Project then select a clip/pic but the APPLY NOW button is no longer active. This is happening in previous projects that have previously had no problem as well as New Projects. It is happening with clips and pics that previously worked as well as new clips and pics. HEL PLLLLLEEEEASE :)

Make sure that there is a selected range on that clip.

Also, on rare occasions where I had some difficulty with the Apply button not becoming active, dragging the clip to the timeline first and selecting there instead of the browser helped. You can then disable or delete from the timeline and it will not affect the drop zone.
