How do I fix MacBook Air M1 disconnecting from Wi-Fi?

Hello everyone, I have a MacBook Air M1 (2020) and it keeps disconnecting from WiFi. Besides it, we have 8 other devices at home (Apple and other brands) and none of them have this issue. It’s been really hard to attend meetings and work in general.

This happened in the past for about 3 days. I tried several things, and honestly I don’t know exactly what fixed it.

Now, it’s happening again. It seems to be related to a specific network, where we use Eeros, which is the main network at home (and the one all other devices use without problems).

Can anyone help me?

Hello! Thanks for trying to help!

I’m right next to the router (40cm from it).

My husband works with a MacBook Pro right next to me and doesn't have this issue.

We both have iPhones and they all work fine.

Noise goes from -85dBm to -94dBm.

The WiFi strength fluctuates: sometimes full, then weak, then it disconnects and reconnects constantly. Most of the time I must reconnect manually.

What do you think I should do next?

I have the same 2020 MBA M1 and have no issues so Try or check these items if not already: (pick easiest ones first to try)

Reboot router

Turn off firewall on Mac

Set router to another channel if possible and test

Set to auto join network in the wifi details section

Run wireless diagnostics from the wifi icon (use option key to launch)

Today it was stable. I had meetings normally. Hard to understand... could it be that some device from a neighbor is interfering with the signal for me?

If it happens again, I’ll test all your tips. Thank you so much!

My issues with wifi disconnects were isolated to a museum where I volunteer, The volunteer desk was "ground" zero for all the museum's tech. A desktop computer, the wireless access point, a wifi-enabled multi-function printer, the base-station for the wireless phones, and a credit car reader were all within a few feet of each other, My Macbook Pro, which never dropped wifi at home, did it all the time when I used it at the museum. Moving the wifi-eanbled printer to another office reduced the disconnects to nearly none.

Option click on the wifi icon in menu bar and check the signal strength and noise value. This may provide some hints of an issue. Does it matter how far from your router you are?
