iCloud For Windows iCloud Photos won't embed

It appears with the recent iCloud For Windows app that Photos will appear but unable to embed into either Word documents or E-MAIL. This is not the case with iCloud Drive, if a .jpg were to be used from that location. Only appears to happen from 'Photos.'

Again, this was not the case pre-update. iCloud For Windows functioned well as designed. I have totally uninstalled and reinstalled iCloud for Windows multiple times. I have been unsuccessful in obtaining the old version which functioned.

As illustrated, the process stops here indefinitely and the file (photo) selected for download into either a Word document or when composing an E-MAIL 'hangs.'

Does either Apple or Microsoft know about this? In my opinion, appears to be something Microsoft-related as this is not the case when using another (Safari) browser. Issue is not present then.
