Missing photo album with 150 photos on iPad

A photo album suddenly was missing about 150 photos. Were not in recently deleted or hidden or anywhere else I could think of to look.

Are the photos gone from All Photos a well, not just from the album?

When you delete a photo from any album, it will be deleted everywhere in the library, from All Photos and any other album it has been added to. The albums are just referencing the photos in the library, they are not storing own copies of the photos. this way each photo is only stored one, independent of the number of albums we have added it to. We have to use the command "Remove from Album" and not "delete", if we just want to remove. photo from an album and not delete it from the library.

Thank you for your comeback. I'm well aware of the rules you are talking about. There is more involved here. I did not delete or remove any of the 150 missing photos. Further, just yesterday I found several hundred photos in my recently deleted. They all had 29 days to removal. I didn't remove or delete any of these pics. They just appeared in recently deleted. Further some were still in my library. How can a pic appear both in Recently Deleted and my Library? I feel this could have all started with the software upgrade to 18.6 Would appreciate ant feed back. Thanks Harlow178

A picture can appear in both in the Library and in Recently Deleted if it's really two picture files, as would happen if a picture were duplicated. You can't really tell any difference between duplicates, although a duplicate will appear only in the album in which it's created.

I suspect that someone else has access to your phone.

Are you subscribing to a Shared Library? All members of a Shared iCloud Library can move items from the Shared Library to Recently Deleted.

On rare occasions you can see items appear in Recently Deleted out of the blue. This can happen, if the Photos Library has become damaged and Photos needed to repair it. On such occasions older photos, that you tried to delete, but could not be deleted properly and lost the connection to their thumbnail, can reappear.
