Brand new Apple Watch Series 8 Not Turning On. Should I buy it?
I recently found an Apple Watch Series 8 GPS Aluminum 45mm for around $240. I live in India where prices are usually very high, so this was the cheapest option I could get. I know it’s not the latest model, but I thought it would be a good buy.
However, after getting the watch, I am facing an issue:
- The watch does not power on normally.
- When I connect it to the charger, the Apple logo appears for about 3–4 seconds and then disappears. It keeps repeating this if I reconnect.
- I waited in the store for about 10–15 minutes while they tried charging it and pressing the buttons, but it never powered on.
- It never reached the setup screen.
I also checked the serial number on Apple’s website:
- On checkcoverage.apple.com, it shows: “Purchase Date Not Validated – Apple is unable to provide information about your coverage.”
2.On another Apple support page, it says: “Device Not Activated – This device hasn’t been activated yet. You’ll need to set it up to see more details about its coverage.”
So it looks like the watch is new / not activated, but I’m not sure why it won’t start.
My questions are:
- Is this a known issue (Apple logo only on charger, no boot)?
Could this be solved with a force restart, software restore, or service?
- Since it’s not activated yet, does this mean warranty will start once it’s first set up (if I manage to turn it on)?
- Given the situation, should I go ahead and buy it, or is it too risky?
- Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
