Which model iMac are you using? The information shown in your profile is in conflict. 24 inch iMacs are either very old or very new.
Identify your iMac model - Apple Support
Newer iMacs cannot run Mavericks, and older ones that could run Mavericks probably shipped with OS X installation media on DVDs.
